This local Golden family were looking to build their forever home at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort where their love of skiing and mountain biking could be fulfilled conveniently every day.
They were clear that they wanted a traditional Swiss style mountain family home with timbers, gable roofs and large covered decks. Working in the forestry industry they wanted to embrace the use of as much local natural timber as possible.
We used 6×8, 8×8 and 8×12 free of heart douglas fir for the handcut beams and posts and a huge 14×14 centre post. The wood was wire brushed, rough sawn and hand scorched by our team.
The full structural timberframe perfectly showcases the beauty of interior and exterior wood and is complemented beautifully by the owner’s spectacular interior.
