We offer a means for our clients build a Hybrid Timber frame to save cost and still be able to enjoy the beauty of a timber frame. Under this constructions approach, just some feature rooms are fully Timber Framed. Many times clients also use Timber Frame Components on their home exterior for decorative and stuctural purposes.
The rendering below shows a Hybrid structure where we find Timber Frame in the Great Room and the Balcony. We also have some decorative exterior trusses in timber. The rest of the roof is framed with conventional nail plate trusses or I-Joist roof rafters and LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) plates. The roof build up at the balcony and the outriggers for the overhang on the gable ends are done with 2x6 lumber.
